Jackie, the Human
My path to this work was shaped by years of overachievement and people-pleasing as a survival strategy, burnout, toxic systems, and thinking I could hustle my way into security and safety. I know the ache of trying to hold everything together and the relief of finally setting down things that were never mine to hold. I know the confusion and later relief of late-diagnosis AuDHD. That's why I founded Mockingbird Therapy - to create a space for people to reclaim their lives and feel genuinely supported and safe in the ways I wish I had earlier in life.
Outside of my work, I also love dancing with my kids to K-Pop Demon Hunters, the big Texas sky and the feeling of Minnesota spring, my husband's morbid sense of humor, rescuing dogs, coffee mugs with personality, classic rock on vinyl, and humanity in all its messiness.
You as a whole and lovely human are the center of our work. We believe you are worthy of compassion, respect and feeling truly seen and heard in your care. We welcome you fully and meet you without judgement so that you can have the courage to be vulnerable and do the important work of therapy.
We believe that you deserve care and services that benefit from latest science. We understand that our field has left out many voices and perspectives in the past. We take a stand against this by taking a more conscious approach to how we apply science in the care, trainings and programs we offer you.
We offer care that is tailored to you, your identities and your values. We will walk alongside you and maintain ongoing and open communication throughout our work so that you receive better and more responsive care. We too are "doing the work" of learning and self reflection to be here for you in real and meaningful way.
We offer care, services and education designed to empower change not just in our individual lives but also in the communities and systems in which we live. We believe in healing together through heartfelt and intentional connections.
We're challenging the status quo to create mental health care that's radically compassionate, inclusive, and empowering. We are taking stands against messages and patterns that contribute to stress, trauma and burnout in our care, practice and communities.
